Icons that have been made by centuries old canon are not copied, but made by my hand the way I see every picture in my heart, using the techniques that I have learned during my studies. I paint with pigments on wooden boards, on stone, on paper and cover them with olifa. With every brushstroke I paint a piece of my life, love, sadness, the colors of my land!

Miniature, Saint Francis of Assisi
In this Icons I painted a Black Stork, which is listed in the Red Book of Latvia, and the little Tit that lives by the window of my studio. Every year a family of Tit lives there and sings at my window! Saint Francis has a white bird with a sprig of Rosemary in his hands. Rosemary grows in my garden. The flowers that surround the saint are also from my garden.
Under the Icon, inside the wooden box, I crocheted a white blanket. There is also a small bird feather. One day I was sitting in the garden, in my rocking chair, and I saw a Tit, carrying a small feather in its beak to the cage. But, it felt out of its beak and slowly landed of the flowers. There was something beautiful in that moment...
