Art project in cooperation with the St.John the Baptist Catholic Church of Ireland, Ballyvaughan, Co Clare.

"Saints and Protected and Threatened species in Ireland".

  • This project started in 2023.
  • The main idea of the project: hand painted cards with saints. I offer the supplement the idea with protected and threatened species in Ireland. I have been working on a similar theme for a long time, in cooperation with the Greek-Catholic Church of Estonia; about this project, please read:HERE!Therefore, I am interested in continuing this work.
  • Very creative and research work, because the entire work process is under my control. Irish people message me, which saints they would like to see, my work is to create a visual composition. I studied Checklists of Protected and Threatened species in Ireland, to find what would be suitable for the particular character. The next step is to find the text to write on the white paper scroll under the saint. For example, the very first painting, Saint Francis of Assisi has a fragment from the Prayer: "Lord, make me an instrument of your peace". When the card is ready, on the other side, I describe in handwriting what plants or animals are depicted, their English and Latin names.
  • I painted the cards on water color paper with dry pigments and egg yolk. For the first work of the project - St.Francis of Assisi, I made two versions: black and white with ink and color, to understand which one is better.
  • Since February, 2024, I have been working on Archangels Michael and Gabriel.
  • These paintings are my original works of art and are the only ones of their kind!
  • As the work progresses, I will and the new photos. Stay tuned!
