Poetry of Endangered Nature

  • Since 2009, I have been participating in the art project "Poetry of endangered nature" which takes place in Tallinn, Estonia, at the Ukrainian Cultural Center. The main theme of the project is the interaction between a human being and wildlife. This is a reminder that this planet is not only our living space. It is a home to all of life - plants and animals. Man must be a responsible and caring host, as we have been ordered so by God.
  • The are 47 icons are displayed in Tallinn, at the Ukrainian Cultural center, at the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church in Estonia Tallinn Parish, Laboratooriumi 22, Tallinn, Estonia. Webpage: CLICK HERE!
  • The icons are stories about saints - men and women, in which living creatures saw a primordial Adam - a man, whom God has ordained to rule over all living creatures, as a good host. The question is - whether it is so?
  •  Participation in this project is a really creative work, as I must create compositions on familiar topics in the  iconography, as well as completely new topics, where almost no images or other illustrative materials exist.
  •  It was very interesting to work on the Brazilian Apostle Jose de Anchieta iconography. Mostly only informative materials exist about this saint. Through the reading of a biography and searching for available illustrations (mostly monuments only), I created scene, including the most important moments from the life of the Apostle. I used the legend of the jaguar and a bird, Ben-te-vi. These two moments are mentioned in the description of the saint's life as important and revealing. I had to develop the Apostle's image as well. But the main task was develop this theme in an iconographic style!
  • My first icon in Tallinn - 2009 - Latvian Miracle worker icon, Jakobstadskaya Icon of the Mother of God and endangered species of animals and plants in the Red Book of Latvia.
